With all the recent news about treats being tainted and making dogs sick, I’ve been making a lot of my dogs’ food at home from scratch. Now I have to admit, my dogs are treat fanatics. I’ve spoiled them to the point they believe they get a treat for everything: going out to potty, going to their crates, even for following me upstairs. It’s really a little bit ridiculous.
So because they love their treats, we go through a lot of them around our house. That makes it especially important that the treats are healthy, low calorie, and tasty. They absolutely adore these baked sweet potato chips, and they’re soooo easy and inexpensive to make!
Baked Sweet Potato Chips
Ingredients
3 large sweet potatoes
Ground cinnamon
Cooking Directions
1. Pre-heat oven to 225 degrees.
2. Slice sweet potatoes into 1/4″- 1/2″ slices, leaving the peel on.
3. Place the slices in a single layer on a cookie tray covered with aluminum foil.
4. Sprinkle the chips lightly with cinnamon.
5. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the chips are slightly crunchy.
6. Cool and serve.
This is the final product, and I have to tell you, my dogs absolutely love them. Just look at this face, anticipating the treat she’s about to receive!
Sweet potatoes make a great snack because they’re what’s commonly referred to as a Super Food. They are “calorie sparse” and “nutrient dense”, making them a virtual nutritional powerhouse. Super Foods are as good for your dog as they are for you, but as always, I advise you to check with your veterinarian if you have questions about what to feed your pets.
Have you ever tried sweet potato chips for your dog? I’d love to hear about your experience! Did you dog love them as much as mine do?

Sherrell, I can almost guarantee your dogs will LOVE them! :)
I think I will try that for my dogs
