Okay, I’m going to be honest. I’m bending the rules just a little bit for this week’s 52 Snapshots of Life post. The theme is BLACK and while I did not take these photos myself, I think it’s a great opportunity to bring a little bit of awareness to the plight of black cats (and dogs) in shelters.
Did you know that on average, it takes longer for a black cat to be adopted from a shelter than for cats of other colors? It’s true, and maybe it’s because black cats just sort of blend in at the shelter and are not as noticeable as other cats. Perhaps it’s because some people are superstitious and believe silly things like black cats are bad luck.
Whatever it is, I think you’ll agree with me that no cat should have to wait for months, or even years, to find his forever family and start living his happy ending. And that’s why today I’m sharing 4 black cats from my local shelter, the Humane Society for Hamilton County, located in Noblesville, Indiana. Let’s meet these 4 beauties:
- Bug: This cutie is a 4 year old Domestic Shorthair who’d love to be someone’s lap cat.
- Legend: This handsome boy is a 3 year old Domestic Longhair, and he’d sure like to meet his forever family.
- Amethyst: A gorgeous 8 year old girl, Amethyst loves people and is eager to be part of a loving home.
- Cricket: And just in case you think you can’t find kittens at your animal shelter, 2 month old Cricket begs to differ. She wants you to know there are cats of all ages at your local shelter.
These beauties are just a few of the amazing kitties currently available for adoption at my shelter. I’d love for you to share this post to spread the word, and remember: there are just as many gorgeous cats (and dogs) in your local shelter and I highly recommend checking them out. Remember, ADOPT, don’t shop! And please, spay and neuter your pets!
52 Snapshots is a weekly themed photo challenge, but it isn’t just for pet bloggers! It’s for anyone who loves to take photos, and everyone is invited to participate! Simply snap a photo based on the current week’s theme (shown in the image above), and then share your photo in a blog post, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or wherever you like. It’s so much fun seeing what everyone comes up with for each week’s theme.
On Fridays, I share my photo for the week here in a blog post, and I give you a chance to link up with me and the other participants. All you have to do is simply add your link below and share your photos with the world! If you’re sharing your photos on social media, please be sure to use hashtag #52Snapshots so we can find you!
Just a couple of rules: first, if you’re linking up, please be sure to link DIRECTLY TO your #52Snapshots post – don’t link to your main website URL. And second, if you are not participating in the photo challenge, please don’t link up here. This blog hop is only for photos of this week’s theme, and unrelated links will be removed. Thanks for understanding!
