Okay, let’s just go ahead and admit it: we love Fall. We love the pumpkin spice lattes, the sweaters, the boots, and the crisp, autumn weather. The list goes on and on!
I also love decorating for Fall, and I’m 100 percent in favor of decor ideas that go from September to Thanksgiving. Fall decorating doesn’t have to be all Halloween-centric; instead, it can feature white pumpkins and autumn florals, buffalo plaid, and those soft, homey touches like throw blankets and pillows.
Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite ideas for getting the most out of Fall decorating, with tips for taking you from those first cool days of September all the way through Black Friday. Because, if you’re anything like me, you know that’s the perfect time to start decorating for Christmas.
Make your home welcome and inviting from the moment that guests arrive on your doorstep. Autumn plants, like mums, are beautiful mixed in with harvest pumpkins and baskets of gourds, apples, and fall-colored leaves. This is an inexpensive way to make your home entrance festive, with a look that will last throughout the season. Bonus: it’s also an all-natural way to decorate!

Decorating for Fall doesn’t have to mean jack-o-lanterns, witches, and bats – unless, of course, you like that sort of thing. I do, but I really want my fall decor to last all season long, so I usually steer clear of the decor that screams Halloween and I focus on items that are a little less specific.
See the stuff pictured above? Every single item celebrates Fall, but without the heavy Halloween overtones. Except for that adorable little dog figurine. I mean, a dog dressed up as a ghost, holding a bucket for Halloween treats? Yes, please!

Something else that will add a cozy touch to your home during the Fall is a little candlelight. I love using candles year-round to create a little ambience, but it’s especially nice on those chilly autumn evenings. These pumpkin tealights are perfect for creating a cozy Fall vibe at home.
NOTE: keep in mind that you must always use precaution when using candles around children and dogs, and I highly recommend using them in a well-ventilated area.
